Social is a locally owned, underground upscale cocktail bar in Old Town Fort Collins. Inspired by the craft of bartending from past times to modern times, Social was conceived so that guests could tune out the distractions of life and just take the time to socialize with one another and enjoy!
Down a set of stairs through a basement door, a throwback to the 1920’s speak-easy is revealed. From the décor to the cocktails, and the menu, it is all an experience. The chic modern interior design has invited guests of all ages including many who don’t even drink (many non-alcoholic cocktails are available), but just want to relax and enjoy the fun energy. Having recently been rated as the Best Bar in Colorado by Yelp, people from all over the world have found Social and every night guests make the drive from Denver just for the experience. On weekends at around 6pm there is a line formed outside at the top of the stairs. With a capacity of 150 they are full. Just like a restaurant though, when a table opens for your party size, you have a chair and a dedicated server and the wait is over. Time to start enjoying!
Upon your arrival at Social, if you are seated before 8pm you will receive a complimentary aperitif to sip while you browse the menu. It is their way of saying thank you for joining them. You will quickly realize that hospitality is the main focus at Social. The staff and the guests are what make Social so inviting and successful. Most of the staff are long time hospitality industry veterans and are very into what they do. Many of the bartenders have been bartending for 10 years or more and are “geeky” about cocktails, spirits, and all that is liquid. They love to talk about and even teach guests about unique liquors from around the globe. Social has the largest absinthe collection in town, so stop by and enjoy some of the greatest absinthes from around the world served with traditional service. With over 600 spirits, there are a lot of different items for you to choose from that you don’t tend to see on most bar shelves.
Using the best and freshest ingredients, the cocktails speak for themselves – but custom made ice for your cocktails? Ice is the most important part of a wellcrafted cocktail. The goal of ice is to chill the cocktail and also to provide the proper amount of dilution. At Social you will see many different sizes, shapes and flavors of ice with the specific purpose of making you that perfect hand crafted cocktail.
Not only does Social have incredible cocktails but the food choices are amazing and creative. The main focus on the menu is Charcuterie which consists of various cured meats (Prosciutto, Serrano, Salami), house pickled vegetables, nuts and breads. You can choose from 7 options of cheese and charcuterie boards. However, you will also find a wide array of different food items that are great to enjoy by yourself or to share with the table. Pulled Pork Sliders, Deviled Eggs, Smoked Salmon Pate, Pork Wings or the very popular Bavarian Pretzel with Brie Mustard are delicious alternatives. Many gluten free options are available.
Don’t forget to save room for some yummy dessert specials. Some favorites are the Cookie Jar, which contains 4 warm house baked cookies, Chocolate Fudge with sea salt and spicy almonds, and Spiced Poach Pears with a Bourbon Ice Cream.
Social, with one of the largest wine lists in town and over 150 distinct choices has been awarded the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence 4 years in a row. All wine has been hand selected by Social’s owner and Certified Sommelier, Ty Fulcher. The beer selection includes nearly 40 different varieties from favorite local brewers, as well as incredible imports from all over the world. Most taps are constantly rotating with fun new tastes from around town.
Don’t miss out on the many nightly bar specials. Every night is Social Hour which is their version of Happy Hour from 4-6pm with various discounted drink and food items.
