The Fox and The Crow Cheese Shop & Bistro

Fox and CrowThis cut-to-order cheese and meat shop is wowing customers with charcuterie boards, bistro favorites, and wine & beer. The famous Aesop Fable of the Fox & the Crow is the center theme of this midtown Fort Collins bistro that opened late 2014. The well-known tale of a fox and crow fighting for a piece of cheese is uniquely displayed on their new space’s front windows. Their motto is flattery will get you cheese.

The Fox & The Crow recently moved and expanded to a space next to the Island Grill. Owners Tina and Alan Mooney renovated the new spot, doubled the seating availability and carefully planned and decorated to create a modern, and a welcoming bistro feel that is reminiscent of the original location. Alan even built the bistro tables himself! There is plenty of outdoor patio seating that can accommodate small to big parties, as well as a lounge area.

Fox and crow mascots greet you on the countertop when you walk in, and below them are dozens of fresh farmstead and artisan cheeses and meats from 5 to 5,000 miles away. Bright canvas paintings of dairy animals hang on the walls. Locals have responded with beaming reviews about the specialty cheese shop. It’s the kind of locally owned business you can picture in Old Town, but it is conveniently located in Scotch Pines Village at the corner of Lemay & Drake. The shop is a breath of fresh air in this neighborhood.

The Fox and The Crow is proud to have 2 certified cheese professionals and one on the way on staff. This certification is equivalent to a wine sommelier and comes with 4,000 documented hours of professional experience and an intensive exam. So stop on in and sample the inventory before you decide what to take home, or sit and stay for a glass of wine, beer, or hard cider on tap. An extensive bottled wine list is also available.

The cheese and charcuterie selections rotate on a regular basis, so there is always something new and unique. All boards are expertly prepared. Having a special get together? Let their professional mongers design a platter or a whole wheel cheesecake tower! Need something smaller? Party to go boxes and the Cheese of the Month Club take the guess work out of parings.

The dine-in menu, expanding in spring, also includes small plates with fresh salads, house-made soups, and sandwiches, with gluten-free selections upon request. The Mac & Cheese recipe, topped with house-made crackers, took six months for Tina to perfect! Everything is made and sold with love and care.

To finish your meal off, how about a yummy cannoli, hand filled to order with a traditional ricotta cheese, almond, and chocolate blend in a crispy shell from NYC.

Especially exciting are the monthly in-depth classes, workshops, and cheese tastings. Call to sign up. Small class sizes limited to 15 people.
